Our Staff

We firmly believe that our staff are our most valuable asset. We choose them for their caring attitude, playful natures and dedication to childcare, as well as their experience and qualifications. Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic team gives our children the best chance to achieve their potential. The vetting procedure for our staff employment is strict and includes Police Checks (DBS) and references.

Ollie Owl operates a continuous in-house training programme as well as additional external courses to improve the quality of care offered to our children. As part of this continuous development we reserve the right to close the nursery for up to two “staff training days” per year.`


Staff Ratios:

Ollie Owl work to a high ratio of staff to children to ensure your child has the best level of care. The ratios differ according to the age group of children:

Under 2 years old: 1 adult to 3 children
2 to 3 years old: 1 adult to 4 children
3 years +: 1 adult to 8 children


First Aiders:

Almost all of our nursery staff are qualified First Aiders. There is a first aid box complying with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 which is kept in an accessible place out of the reach of children. We also have a Health and Safety officer who makes sure all the H&S needs of the nursery are up to date.


Buckinghamshire County Council Early Years Team:
Ollie Owl Day Nursery works hand in hand with the Early Years Team at Buckinghamshire County Council, which gives parents peace of mind that the care offered to their children is of the highest standard.


Nursery Proprietor

Amanda & Dick Tillett decided to open a day nursery after experiencing difficulties finding a nursery they felt was good enough for her own two children. They have a firm vision of what makes a good nursery and combines flexibility for the parents and support for the staff with a fun, caring and high quality experience for all the children. Plus they bring all the experience of parenthood into the nursery! Amanda sadly passed away in December 2018 and Dick has since taken over the running of the company.

Dick is a trained First Aider for both adults and children and is also a Designated Safeguarding Officer for the nursery.

Operations Director & Amersham Manager

Kim Fernandes comes to Ollie Owl with a passion for working with children and a wealth of nursery experience.  She possesses strong leadership skills and exactingly high quality standards. She is an expert in the Early Years curriculum, and holds a degree in Education Studies & Early Years. She believes strongly in the power of a skilled and motivated team of staff.

Kim also has a broad range of experience in the area of child protection and is the nursery's second Designated Safeguarding Officer.

Chesham Manager

Amisha Dhir comes to Ollie Owl with a passion for working with children and broad depth of knowledge & experience working in a nursery setting. She has extensive experience of managing other nurseries to a very high standard and brings those skills to Ollie Owl.  Amish is trained in safeguarding and first aid and she is also our inclusion officer with responsibility for SEN and children with English as an additional language. Amisha is also a safeguarding officer.


Deputy Managers

Hollie Nicell has worked in Childcare for a number of years and is passionate about seeing children grow and develop. Hollie is our Health & Safety Officer and ensures all health and safety practices are up to date. Hollie is also a safeguarding officer.

Zsuzsanna Pap worked in childcare for last 7 years. Has a BA (Hons) degree in Early Years. Has extensive experience managing nurseries and as a room leader. She is very passionate about child development and outdoor play.
